Nomination Submission Guidelines
Member in Good Standing
Any member of ACAIA in good standing is entitled to nominate an individual, including themselves, or to be nominated for election as a Director of ACAIA. To be a member in good standing, an individual must have completed the ACAIA membership form (available on-line here) and paid the $35 annual membership fee within the one-year period prior to the nomination being made (with the exception of members who paid their membership fee on or before December 31, 2024, whose membership remains valid until December 31, 2025).
Term of Service
In accordance with article 4.3 of the ACAIA by-laws (available on-line here), in this first election, up to five Directors shall be elected, comprising up to three Directors for a two-year term and up to two Directors for a one-year term.
Regional Representation
Nominations for election as a Director are subject to any policy regarding elections that may be established by the Board of Directors pursuant to article 4.6 of the by-laws. At this time, the interim Board of Directors has determined that the first elected Board of Directors will ideally comprise one (1) representative from each province served by ACAIA (i.e., one representative from each of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador) plus one additional member from any of the served provinces. The form of the election may be modified depending on the total number of nominations received and the number of nominations received for members from each province.
Information Required
To nominate an individual for election as a Director of ACAIA, the nominee MUST provide:
1. Full name of nominee.
2. A valid email address for the nominee.
3. Mailing address of the nominee, including province in which the nominee resides.
4. If the nominee is an individual other than the person making the nomination, confirmation that the nominee agrees to stand for election.
5. The preferred duration of term (one year, two years, or no preference).
6. A short bio, no more than 250 words in length, containing: a brief overview of the nominee’s professional qualifications and experience; a brief statement of any current or past service to the impact assessment community; and a short statement of the nominee’s ideas or suggestions for how they would like to see ACAIA develop during their term. (NOTE: The bio is best written in 1st person, as it would be included on the ballot to assist members when making their voting choices.)
