Through a Memorandum of Understanding between the four Canadian IAIA affiliates, ACAIA members enjoy reciprocal access to the events held by the other affiliates at their member rates!  That includes member rates for webinars and conferences.  Some exceptions may apply.

Our colleagues in Québec, the L’Association québécoise pour l’évaluation d’impacts (AQÉI), will be hosting the IAIA26, the annual conference of the International Association for Impact Assessment, in Québec City, May 19-22, 2026

This year’s conference theme, “Misinformation, Disinformation, Communication, and Impact Assessment,” invites fresh perspectives on how information integrity affects the quality, credibility, and effectiveness of impact assessment processes.  Explore how we share science, build trust, and strengthen public participation in IA.

Abstract submission is now open for oral presentations and posters!

AQÉI's Annual General Meeting of Members, October 30, 2025

Our colleagues in Québec, the L’Association québécoise pour l’évaluation d’impacts (AQÉI), will be hosting their annual general meeting of members on Thursday, October 30, 2025.  

L’assemblée générale annuelle des membres de l’AQÉI se déroulera le jeudi 30 octobre 2025 de 7h00 à 8h30 au Club Saint-James de Montréal, juste avant de plonger dans l’Atelier-formation : L’évaluation des impacts cumulatifs. Si vous ne pouvez être présent pour la journée, notez que c’est aussi possible de participer à l’AGA en mode virtuel. Merci de préciser votre choix lors de l’inscription à l’AGA.  

Tous les membres de l’Association sont invités à participer à cette réunion permettant de faire le bilan de l’année écoulée, de présenter les projets à venir, d’élire le nouveau conseil d’administration et surtout de faire entendre sa voix !

AQÉI:  Cumulative Effects webinar, October 30, 2025

Our colleagues in Québec, the L’Association québécoise pour l’évaluation d’impacts (AQÉI), will be hosting a webinar, including a presentation by Miles Scott-Brown on the use of strategic environmental assessment to address cumulative effects.  

 La première partie de l’atelier sera consacrée à une présentation de M. Miles Scott-Brown, un expert mondialement reconnu en matière d’évaluation environnementale et d’impacts cumulatifs. M. Scott-Brown animera une séance sur le guide de l’IAIA intitulé « IMPROVING DECISION-MAKING FOR THE ENERGY TRANSITION Guidance for using Strategic Environmental Assessment ». Il mettra l’accent sur l’importance de l’évaluation des effets cumulatifs dans les ÉES.

L’après-midi sera consacré à la présentation de cas québécois illustrant différentes approches et méthodes d’évaluation des impacts cumulatifs. Ces exposés seront ensuite suivis d’une séance de discussion dirigée par un panel d’experts et de professionnels issus de différents domaines. Ils aborderont les obstacles liés à la mise en pratique de cette approche.

Nous vous invitons à assister à cet atelier, où vous aurez l’occasion d’approfondir vos connaissances grâce aux présentations théoriques, aux études de cas et aux échanges.

Ontario Association for Impact Assessment (OAIA), Annual Conference, November 4 - 5, 2025

Our colleagues in Ontario, the Ontario Association for Impact Assessment (OAIA), will be hosting their annual conference in Toronto in early November. 

This year, the conference will be exploring the theme of “Infrastructure, the Environment & Society: Assessments to Connect, Power, House, & Protect for a Sustainable Future in an Uncertain Geopolitical & Natural World”. There are both in-person and virtual options for participation and attendance.
