ATLANTIC CANADA ASSOCIATION FOR IMPACT ASSESSMENT (ACAIA)
Board of Directors – Call for Nominations
Established in September 2024, the purpose of the ACAIA is to improve the quality of impact assessment (IA), including processes, methods, and outcomes, and to promote its effective use to support better planning and decision-making. It provides a forum for IA practitioners and participants in Atlantic Canada to engage, learn, innovate, and collaborate with each other and like-minded organizations and people.
ACAIA became an affiliate organization of the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) in January 2025 and currently has over 50 members. The activities of the ACAIA are guided by a volunteer Board of Directors.
In anticipation of the association’s upcoming Annual General Meeting and election [to be held on or before February 27, 2026 - further notice forthcoming], and in accordance with its by-laws, the ACAIA is currently seeking nominations for five (5) positions on its Board of Directors for terms commencing in early 2026.
Board members play an important role in providing strategic direction, ensuring good governance, and advancing the association’s programs and initiatives. Key activities include:
Providing strategic direction and upholding the organization’s mission and values
Participating in regular board meetings and other meetings / events as applicable
Helping develop and implement programs and events of interest to ACAIA’s membership
Promoting and representing the organization, both nationally and internationally

Any ACAIA member in good standing is entitled to nominate an individual, including themselves, or to be nominated for election as a director of ACAIA.
