The day-to-day operational activities of the ACAIA are guided and undertaken by the designated and non-designated officers.
The designated officers are appointed by the board of directors following the annual general meeting. The designated officers include the chair of the board, the vice-chair of the board, the treasurer, and the secretary. A designated officer must be a director. Except for the offices of secretary and treasurer, a person may not hold two or more designated offices at the same time. The duties and powers of the designated officers are outlined in the by-laws.
Non-designated officers may also be appointed by the board and may, but need not be, a director.
The current designated officers, appointed following the AGM on February 10, 2026, include the following individuals:
Chair: Mike Atkinson
Vice Chair: Don Maynard
Treasurer: Jillian Bieser
Secretary: Denis Marquis
The term of the designated officers listed above extends until ACAIA's next Annual General Meeting to be held in early 2027. Biographies of the designated officers are available on the Board of Directors page.
In addition, in April, 2026, the board of directors appointed Celesa Horvath as a non-designated officer of ACAIA, to serve as a Special Advisor to the board, effective immediately and until ACAIA's next Annual General Meeting to be held in early 2027.
